SFH-142685 California – Local Government Waste Tire Cleanup and Amnesty Grant Programs xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx https://calrecycle.ca.gov/tires/grants/cleanup/ xxxxxxxxxxx The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery offers the Waste Tire Cleanup (TCU) and Waste Tire Amnesty (TA) grant programs which provide funding for the cost of cleanup, abatement, or other remedial actions related to the disposal of waste tires collected at cleanup projects and amnesty events. Local governments (cities, counties, or cities and counties) as defined in PRC section 48617. Special districts. Qualifying Native American Tribes. Joint Powers Authorities (JPA) as an eligible entity (where all of the participating entities are otherwise eligible). Previously offered together as one grant program, the Waste Tire Cleanup Grant and the Waste Tire Amnesty Grant were separated in 2012. Each grant has a 2-year grant term. The Waste Tire Cleanup Grant Program will be offered in even years and the Waste Tire Amnesty Grant Program will be offered in odd years. Waste Tire Cleanup grants include: Funds for the collection, removal, transportation, recycling, and disposal of California waste tires from tire piles and areas where illegal dumping has occurred. Funds are limited to the removal of waste tires along public rights-of-way and on private property. Program Fact Sheet Waste Tire Amnesty grants include: Funds for date-specific events for the public and are not intended for the disposal of waste tires from waste tire generating businesses (PRC §42954(7)). Amnesty events 1) allow citizens to bring waste tires to convenient locations for proper management up to twice per month per location or 2) can consist of a coupon program that allows citizens to bring in waste tires on specified days.
